The scientists are up at all hours working, the collecting of samples goes non-stop around the clock. On the Navy owned ship, Thomas G. Thompson, Oceanographers collect samples that the sediment multicore has brought up from below and store them for further research. Marine techs pull up the multi-corer from the sea floor. The tubes are filled with sediment that the scientists will take as samples for all their various research projects. Several different instruments are utilized, including A CTD which is an oceanography instrument used to determine the conductivity, temperature, and depth of the ocean. Fog rolls over the boat, and the dolphins dance alongside the ship, the glittering water reflecting the spears of light. The days grow long, and the scientists sleep in shifts.
